The Arnesque Estate spreads over more than twenty acres, covering the three following appellations : Châteauneuf du Pape, Plan de Dieu & Côtes du Rhône.
To make a good wine it’s necessary to takes the best grapes, and consequently the best terroir.
Our Châteauneuf du Pape creation is influenced by the unique combination of soil of Arnesque made of a lot of sand bringing a thin structure and elegance to our wine.
Our Plan de Dieu appellation, made in Velage has a totally different terroir, made of red clay and covered with this unique local rolled pebbles.
Our Côte du Rhône is made from lands in Orange, typically clay-limestone.
In order to respect the land, to preserve all the life of the soil and the richness of our wines, we use absolutely no chemical treatment. Wine making starts by a deep care of the land and the plants we treat gently at each step : pruning, disbudding, leaf-thinning…
During the harvest, after sorting the grapes manually, they are vinified by grape variety and plot selection. The grapes are destemmed and crushed.
Follows a traditional vinification in indigenous yeast for more diversity and complexity.
The ageing of wine lasts at least one year in concrete tanks or in demi-muids. The wine is then bottled without fining and with a light filtration.
The main grape variety is Grenache which represents more than 70% of the Estate. And because with Grenache, the older, the better, the average age of our vineyards is around 50 years.
Grenache greatest quality is its ability to “externalize” its soil, to let it “speak”.
Depending on the soil, it will give very different wines characteristics. This is why we can offer such a diversity with our wines.
Grenache best variety friends are Syrah, Mourvèdre and Carignan. They bring balance of our wines.
